This course focuses on the identification, understanding, and control of fire and explosion hazards associated with chemicals in industrial and marine environments. Participants will explore how certain chemicals react under different conditions, how fires and explosions can be triggered, and what prevention and mitigation strategies can be implemented to ensure safety in operations.
The training emphasizes real-life case studies, hazard analysis techniques, and regulatory compliance, combining theoretical knowledge with practical safety management applications to protect people, property, and the environment.
-
Identify flammable, reactive, and explosive chemical hazards in the workplace.
-
Understand the physical and chemical properties that influence fire and explosion potential.
-
Recognize how chemical fires and explosions occur and what conditions contribute to them.
-
Apply preventive and control measures to minimize fire and explosion risks.
-
Conduct basic chemical risk assessments using established safety tools (e.g., SDS, NFPA, GHS).
-
Select appropriate storage, handling, and emergency response strategies for hazardous chemicals.
-
Respond appropriately to chemical fire/explosion scenarios through planning and drills.
